BLS Instructor
The AHA BLS Instructor course, taught in the blended format: Instructor Essentials online at your own pace, then a hands-on Instructor Course session with Training Center Faculty. It is the teaching half of instructor alignment — you also need a current BLS Provider card, alignment with a Training Center, and a monitored first teaching session.
- BLS Instructor Essentials (online) included
- Hands-on session with Training Center Faculty
- Current BLS Provider card required to enrol

AHA instructor alignment also requires a current provider card, alignment with a Training Center, and a monitored first teaching session. The course fee covers Instructor Essentials and the hands-on session — it does not by itself make you an aligned instructor.

BLS Instructor questions
Does this course make me an AHA instructor?
Not on its own. The fee covers BLS Instructor Essentials and the hands-on session with Training Center Faculty. AHA alignment also requires a current BLS Provider card, alignment with an AHA Training Center, and a monitored first teaching session. We are explicit about this because "online instructor certification" is widely oversold.
Do I need a current BLS Provider card?
Yes. The AHA requires a current BLS Provider card to enrol, and the course assumes you can already perform the skills at provider level. If your card has lapsed, take the BLS provider course first.
What is a monitored teaching session?
The first course you teach is observed by Training Center Faculty, who confirm you can deliver the course to AHA standards. It is arranged with the Training Center you align with, after this course.
How long does instructor status last?
Two years, the same cycle as a provider card. Staying current means teaching the required number of courses in that period and completing the instructor update — book the renewal course for that.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancellation, transfer and refund terms are set out in the Enrollment Agreement you accept at checkout. Contact us as early as you can and we will work with you on a date that fits.
