Course Description: American Heart Association - BLS - CPR Certification Course (Initial)
The American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR Certification Course (Initial) is designed for healthcare providers who want to learn or refresh their knowledge and skills required to provide high-quality CPR to patients in cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. This course covers the latest guidelines for adult, child, and infant CPR, as well as basic life support techniques, including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Participants will also learn how to recognize and respond to choking emergencies and how to provide team-based basic life support.
In this course, you will:
- Learn the latest guidelines for high-quality adult, child, and infant CPR
- Learn how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Learn how to recognize and respond to choking emergencies
- Learn how to provide team-based basic life support
Upon successful completion of the BLS - CPR Certification Course (Initial), participants will receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider card, valid for two years.

Note: It is recommended that healthcare providers who are required to maintain their BLS certification take the BLS Recertification Course prior to the expiration of their current BLS Provider card to maintain their certification status.
